Sierra Leone at the time was a British Possession that was the departure point for many British slave ships. Since many of the people in the area spoke Arabic (Arab traders), the legends are repeated on the reverse in Arabic. This coin lists in UNC for $125 in Krause, which is just a stupid price. |
